Lymphoma cancer is when the body's lymph system has grown malignant tumors. Lymph system is comprised of the lymph, lymph vessels, lymph nodes, bone marrow, spleen and liver. Lymph is the fluid that circulates in the lymphatic system and travels through the body via lymph vessels. One of the functions of the bone marrow and spleen is to produce lymphocytes that fight pathogens. The system malfunctions when lymphoma cancer occurs.
When the lymphocytes divides quickly at an accelerated rate, the chances of lymphoma occurring is positive. As time goes on, the surplus lymphocytes begin to ease and crowd out healthy cells by forming tumors that develop in the lymph nodes.
Metastasis is the process by which lymphoma cancer can spread throughout the body. The primary origin of metastasis is the primary tumor. The primary tumor is located somewhere in one of the body’s lymph nodes. Metastasis can be seen as a young adult leaving his or her parents home to start his or her own life, the cancer cell leaves the primary tumor and spreads to other organs of the body. This process occurs through the lymphatic system or bloodstream.
The bloodstream plays an important role in the development of Lymphoma cancer. The cancer cells use the bloodstream as a source of their sustenance so they can divide from each other and multiply on their own. The transport, contaminated with cancer cells becomes a way to enter the bloodstream. By way of the bloodstream, the cancer cell can look for body organs and multiply there creating new tumors.
Lymphoma cancer can also develop within the lymphatic system. Since the cancer originated in the lymphatic system, the cancer cell will break off the primary tumor and set a secondary site through other parts of the lymphatic system. The tumor cell is then available to travel to other organs because of the lymph system.
When lymphoma cancer establishes in secondary sites, it is then an extremely serious condition. The lymphoma cells begin to multiply at a faster rate and become tumors. By eliminating and terminating healthy cells, the organ dies slowly. The time will come that the cells will render the organ useless and it’s just a matter of time the patient passes away.
It is of utmost importance to detect lymphoma early so that chances of survival would be high.
